Short Remarks

Brief reflections on ILAP’s impact and the work ahead.

your impact

Together, we accomplished a lot in 2024:

  • ILAP provided direct legal services to 2,470 low-income immigrants, including full representation for 442 individuals and limited representation for 2,028 others. Our work focused on asylum cases, relief for immigrant children and youth, Temporary Protected Status, removal defense, and more.

  • Our Pro Bono Panel of 200 attorneys donated 2,265 hours of their time, valued at $834,315, assisting asylum seekers and vulnerable immigrant youth.

  • We maintained a greater than 99% approval rate for full representation cases that received a final decision, a testament to the strength of ILAP’s legal advocacy.

  • ILAP reached 2,744 immigrant community members and service providers through 119 outreach events, offering legal education and Know Your Rights trainings.

  • Through digital and media outreach, ILAP’s website saw 159,000 unique visitors, while our Golden Door e-newsletter, social media platforms, and contributions to multilingual news services like Amjambo Africa and Maine Public News Connect helped ensure that critical information reached Maine’s immigrant communities.

  • Our systemic advocacy work remained strong, with ILAP joining more than 35 policy recommendation and advocacy letters and being featured in the media 33 times to advance immigrant rights.

We couldn’t have done this without you! To our partner organizations, language volunteers, pro bono attorneys, administrative, legal, and medical volunteers, board members, grassroots fundraisers, committee members, and supporters - thank you
