ILAP in the News
In the October issue of Amjambo Africa, ILAP provides information about the recent “public charge” rule change, which is translated into multiple languages, and explains its potential impact. PLEASE NOTE: Since this article was published, the rule has been temporarily blocked and is NOT currently in effect.
ILAP continues to provide regular updates on the legal needs and process for asylum seekers in Maine. Maine Public Radio follows up on the legal status of the asylum seekers who stayed in the Portland Expo Center this summer. And in a Pine Tree Watch article from earlier this year, Asylum Program Director Jennifer Bailey discusses the systematic attack on asylum seekers attempting to navigate the immigration system.
The University of Maine School of Law, one of ILAP’s key partners, released a two-part podcast on 1) how the process of seeking asylum has changed over time and 2) the current state of immigration in the U.S.
