Information about Biometrics Appointments

People who file for asylum, a green card, employment authorization and other types of applications with the immigration service usually must appear at the local immigration office for a “biometrics” appointment. At these appointments, applicants will have their fingerprints and picture taken so that immigration can perform a background check. The notice should have a specific date and time for you to appear at your biometrics appointment and the address for the appointment. The appointment is almost always at 176 Gannet Drive in South Portland.
Along with the notice, you will be provided with a document that you need to fill out before the appointment. The document informs you of the rules regarding social distancing and wearing a mask during the appointment and asks you to fill out very basic information about yourself. You must complete this form and bring it to the appointment along with a photo ID. If you do not have a photo ID, you should bring any identifying documents.
