The United States government is offering Cameroonian people who are currently in the U.S. Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

What is TPS?

TPS gives people temporary protection from deportation, legal status, and a work permit (Employment Authorization Card). TPS is temporary; the current designation of Cameroon TPS is only for 18 months. After that time, the U.S. government can extend TPS for Cameroonians, or choose to end it.

Do I qualify for Cameroon TPS?

You may qualify for Cameroon TPS if:

  • You are a citizen of Cameroon, AND

  • You have been in the U.S. since April 14, 2022 or earlier

To apply for Cameroon TPS, you will need to gather certain documents, including:

  • A Cameroonian passport, birth certificate, or national ID;

  • Proof of entry into the U.S. such as a visa, passport stamp, I-94, or NTA;

  • Documents showing you have been in the U.S. since April 14, 2022 such as medical records, leases, paystubs, or school records;

  • Records for any arrests, charges, and criminal court cases you may have in the U.S. or anywhere else in the world;

  • Copies of any previous immigration applications you may have filed;

  • Any other immigration documents you have received during your time in the U.S.
