The United States government is offering Ukrainians who are currently in the U.S. Temporary Protected Status (TPS)

What is TPS?

TPS gives people temporary protection from deportation, legal status, and a work permit (Employment Authorization Card). TPS is temporary; it is usually only designated for an 18 month period. After that time, the U.S. government can extend TPS or choose to end it..

Do I qualify for Ukraine TPS?

You may qualify for Ukraine TPS if:

  • You are a citizen of Ukraine

  • You have been in the U.S. since April 11, 2022 or earlier

* Certain crimes can make you ineligible for TPS *


To apply for Ukraine TPS, you will need to gather certain documents, including:

  • A Ukrainian passport, birth certificate, or national ID;

  • Proof of entry into the U.S. such as a visa, passport stamp, I-94, or NTA;

  • Documents showing you have been in the U.S. since April 11, 2022 such as medical records, leases, paystubs, or school records;

  • Records for any arrests, charges, and criminal court cases you may have in the U.S. or anywhere else in the world;

  • Copies of any previous immigration applications you may have filed;

  • Any other immigration documents you have;

  • Please note that any document that is not in English will need to be accompanied by a certified English translation.
