ILAP Wins!

When our clients win, our whole community wins

ILAP is proud to support our clients, often working with people over the course of many years or providing support at a critical moment. We are excited to share long-awaited and often hard-won final approvals - while recognizing all the crucial wins along the way.

Help us celebrate a few of many recent wins - big and small - made possible because of our staff and Pro Bono Panel:

  • A client from Cuba is no longer facing the threat of deportation after ILAP filed a motion to terminate removal proceedings under the Cuban Adjustment Act.

  • A teen with severe mental health challenges in immigration detention received the additional support they needed thanks to the relentless advocacy of ILAP staff.

  • A client living in Lewiston was granted asylum with the help of an ILAP Pro Bono Panel attorney!

  • With ILAP’s help and advocacy, a former TPS client in Washington County successfully attended their fingerprint appointment after an erroneous government delay prevented them from applying for a work permit.

  • A Kinyarwanda-speaking family worked with an ILAP staff member who speaks Kinyarwanda on an application that will allow them to remain together as a family.

ILAP's Asylum Assistance and Legal Orientation Project (AALOP) staff and volunteers working with asylum seekers to complete their asylum applications.
