ILAP joins over 450 immigrant rights organizations across the United States in issuing a solidarity letter from the immigrant justice movement. We also released statements to make clear our dedication to taking meaningful action to build a state and country where Black Lives Matter:
ILAP signed onto this op-ed in the Portland Press Herald that provides examples of systemic racism in Maine and highlights a number of anti-racist practices to begin correcting the state’s long-lived inequities.
This Bangor Daily News article revisits a 2019 legislative bill that, among other things, called for a mechanism to track racial profiling by police in Maine. ILAP testified in favor of this bill last year, however, it passed without important data collection requirements.
