Inside ILAP

Introducing a New Look

You may notice that this issue of the Immigrant Beacon looks different. We’ve introduced a refreshed logo, updated color palette, and new design elements that will carry forward across our communications.

This refresh is about alignment. ILAP is shaped by the people and communities we work alongside, and we wanted our visual identity to better reflect that connection. The new design draws inspiration from African and South American textile traditions — honoring the richness, movement, and cultural expression that are part of many of the communities we serve and stand alongside. While confidentiality limits how we share client stories visually, we wanted our design to reflect the vibrancy and dignity of the people who shape ILAP every day.

We are sharing this updated look first with you, before it rolls out more broadly online later this year. We hope this new look feels familiar — because it reflects the communities you’ve stood alongside, and the work we do together. Thank you for being part of this next chapter.

Bienvenue

Wilkommen, Welcome!

Last November, ILAP welcomed Hayley as our new Outreach Attorney. Hayley comes from a strong advocacy background in Washington, D.C, and in the four months since she started, has already been playing a leading role in helping to make critical legal information accessible to immigrant communities in Maine.

At the beginning of this year, we welcomed Daniela as our Lewiston Program Assistant. Daniela was already a valued member of our ILAP team, having joined us as Community Fellow in the summer of 2024 and returned to work with the AALOP team in 2025. We are thrilled that she will now be a member of our staff.

In March, we welcomed Lis as our new HR and Operations Director. Lis brings extensive experience in human resources and diversity, equity, and inclusion in nonprofits and philanthropic organizations. They are excited to apply their skills to support our evolving team during such a critical phase of ILAP’s growth and impact.

Farewell & Well Wishes

Last fall, ILAP bid farewell to Sarah. Sarah joined ILAP two and a half years ago as our HR and Operations Director, supporting our staff as ILAP grew, ensuring a positive and equitable work culture, and keeping operations running smoothly. Although she will be greatly missed, the impact of her work at ILAP cultivating a healthy HR and Operations department will be felt for years to come.
