Stronger Together: Community Events
The work ILAP does is only possible with the support of our community who shares the belief that Maine is home for ALL. These are just a few examples of ways we’ve seen people getting creative to support ILAP. However you choose to get involved, thank you.
Advocacy Through Art
In September, the Irish Heritage Center in Portland hosted a reading of Sinclair Lewis’ play “It Can’t Happen Here,” helmed by USM retired theatre professor, director, actor and former state legislator, Harlan Baker. The play donated proceeds to ACLU Maine and ILAP.
“Beauty as an Act
of Resistance”
On September 21, the Electric Cottage Collective hosted a DIY floral design fundraiser where 80% of the proceeds went to support ILAP’s work.
Tattoos for ILAP
In the spring, tattoo artist Yennika (@ye-eks) hosted a “Maine for Everyone” tattoo fundraiser at their studio, Fortune Teller Tattoos. All proceeds from clients who chose one of their iconic Maine-themed designs were donated to ILAP.
Love in Action
In July and August, local artist Robyn (@justrobynthanks) showcased her work at Second Rodeo Coffee and Perch Cafe. In addition to sharing the powerful messages in her work, she donated a part of her proceeds to ILAP.
Concerts for a Cause
ILAP was selected as a recipient of Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick’s Concerts for a Cause 2025 - 2026 season. So far, the Saturday concerts have featured the iconic Don Campbell Trio and the soulful stylings of the Soggy Po Boys.
