2022 is the year to secure a win for immigrant communities. Democrats must deliver on their promise to keep families together and create new pathways to citizenship in the United States. We will keep fighting until all Maine families can prosper, regardless of where they were born.

We are disappointed that Build Back Better does not currently include a path to citizenship, which is what immigrant communities want, have fought for, and deserve. However, the inclusion of immigration protections in the Build Back Better Act represents an important step forward towards relief for millions of undocumented immigrants.

Poll after poll has shown the American public supports a path to citizenship for immigrants. It’s time for Democrats to use every political and legislative tool available to them to deliver concrete results this year.
