የአሜሪካ መንግስት፤ ከጥቅምት (October) 20 ቀን 2022 ጀምሮ በአሜሪካን አገር መኖር ለጀመሩ ኢትዮጵያውያን ግዜያዊ የመኖርያ ጥበቃ (TPS, Temporary Protected Status) በመስጠት ላይ ይገኛል። ቲ-ፒ-ኤስ (TPS) ማለት ሰዎች ከአገር እንዳይባረሩ ጥበቃ የሚያደርግ፤ ህጋዊ የመኖርና የስራ መስራት ፈቃድ ((Employment Authorization Card) የሚሰጥ ነው። ቲ-ፒ-ኤስ (TPS) ጊዜያዊ ነው። በወቅቱ የተደረገው የኢትዮጵያ ቲ-ፒ-ኤስ (TPS) ከ ታሕሳስ ((December) 12 ቀን 2022 እስከ ሰኔ (June)12 ቀን 2024 ድረስ ለ18 ወራት የሚያገለግል ነው። የሚያከትምበት ቀን ከመድረሱ በፊት፤ የአሜሪካ መንግስት ለኢትዮጵያ የሰጠውን ቲ-ፒ-ኤስ (TPS) ለማራዘም ወይም ለማቋረጥ ውሳኔ ያደርጋል።

The United States government is offering Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to Ethiopian nationals who have been in the U.S. since October 20, 2022. TPS gives people temporary protection from deportation, legal status, and a work permit (Employment Authorization Card). TPS is temporary. The current designation of Ethiopia TPS is for 18 months, from December 12, 2022, to June 12, 2024. Prior to the end of the designation, the U.S. government will decide whether to extend TPS for Ethiopia or to end it.
